2009 X3-Noise Scientific Workshop Bucharest

Resolving uncertainties in airframe noise testing and CAA code validation

The 4th Scientific Workshop of X3-NOISE, also named the 13th CEAS-ASC Workshop, was held  in the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest, Romania, on October 1-2, 2009. Its title was: “Resolving uncertainties in airframe noise testing and CAA code validation”.

The workshop had three keynote speakers:

  1. David Lockard, “CAA validation and benchmark experiments for airframe noise : Needs, challenges and near term prospects”
  2. Klaus Ehrenfried, “Application of Particle Image Velocimetry in Aeroacoustics”
  3. Eric Manoha, “LAGOON : An experimental database for the validation of landing gear noise prediction methods”

There were 15 contribution papers presented to 49 participants. The four sessions were named:

  1. Scaling and Reynolds Number effects
  2. Recent developments in CAA and code validation
  3. Numerical methods for wind tunnel correction
  4. Advances in aeroacoustic testing

The meeting was closed by a final discussion on the main issues and prospects resulting of the presentations.
